Profile of the Institute:
Deshpande Institute of Vocational Training (DIVT) is set up under the auspices of Shri V.R.Deshpande Memorial Trust at Haliyal.
The Mission of the Institute is as below:
“To create an institution of excellence for all-round development of rural youth enabling them to acquire the right attitude, knowledge and skills as are required for their progress and prosperity and to make them worthy citizens of India.

To achieve this, the Institute shall impart quality vocational education and training through world-class facilities that will not only develop technical competence but also will imbibe the right values and attitudes.”

Background :

Unemployment is one of the problems, which has eluded solution even after 58 years of Independence. It is estimated that over 30% of the youth today are still unemployed or under employed across the country. Amongst unemployed, there is an upper group, which consists graduates/Post Graduates who tend to look for wage employment. They are mainly urban centric. Middle group consists school/college dropouts. They cannot aspire for wage employment. This group is the largest among the unemployed youth and even increasing with the spread of literacy.
